Scientific visits / Internships:

• September – December 2019, The Mathematics of Climate and the Environment, L'Institut Henri Poincaré, Paris. 

• Met Office/MPE CDT Training and Research Summer Programme (MOTR), Exeter, UK  (June - August 2018)

    During this internship I investigated the benefits of assimilating a new type of pressure profile data collected using the Mode-S aviation transponder interrogation standard. This standard is used by the air traffic management community to obtain better aircraft reports. I analysed the difference between global model data and Mode-S observational data for assessing the quality of the latter. This involved working with large datasets, manipulating observational data in different systems of reference, retrieving model data (using different Python libraries such as Iris) and interpreting the output. The research has been carried out using Python. A report on our findings can be provided upon request.
